Hello and welcome to my website.
It's taken me a while to arrive in the 21st Century but here I am at last!
On this website, you can learn a little more about me and my work. I'm hoping to upload more pictures as I go. Also, if you're so inclined you can buy some original artworks or high quality prints using the online shop.
About me...
I am a theatre designer and artist. My first love is textiles. As a child, I was sent a chest of Chinese fabrics by my Grandmother living in Shanghai and instantly fell in love with the colours, designs and textures. I was lucky to study textiles at Camberwell School of Art, then Theatre Design at the Slade. I worked in the theatre for a large part of my life, first in London then later moving to Wales. Until very recently I was Senior Lecturer In Design for Performance at the Royal Welsh College Music of Drama where it was fantastic to work with the new generation of unbelievable talent.
Alongside this I have managed to do a range of freelance work, combining my love of textiles, puppetry and sculptural elements.
For the last 25 years I have designed and made large scale textile, willow and paper sculptures to hang from the rafters of the victorian market hall in Abergavenny.
These have been achieved with the collaboration of many volunteers. The project is commissioned by the Abergavenny Food Festival, and paid for by the Town Council
Since leaving the RWCMD I have extended my freelance work , which includes making small, hand -embroidered Christmas decorations of the flora and fauna of Dinefwr, a National Trust property in Wales. I have also had annual commissions from the Angel Hotel, in Abergavenny- initially to transform their elegant ballroom for themed parties such
'Havana Nights'. Latterly the emphasis has been on creating original , hand made wreaths, birds, stars and unconventional Christmas trees to adorn the hotel at Christmas.
I also make wild and natural flower arrangements fo rthe hotel throughout the year.
